This is the terrifying moment a cat's bloody leg was rescued after being stuck in a rusty steel rabbit trap in south-west Melbourne.
The video on first shows an extra close-up shot on the metal trap which clamps onto the cat's leg.
A gash of dark dried blood can be seen on the cat's right leg as it is being released.

A deep laceration extends through the full width of the cat's lower leg.
The dark-brown coloured wound stains the cat's white-furred paw, indicating the cat was lying with it's leg clamped on the dirt ground for a long time before it was rescued.
Nigel from Nigel’s Animal Rescue told 3aw Radio the cat's leg had been trapped for 24-hours.
'It’s one of the old steel jaw leg hold traps they used to use in the old days to catch rabbits,' he said.
