Bill Cosby's daughter Ensa was due to recieve kidney

A kidney match had been identified for Bill Cosby's daughter and a transplant would have taken place within weeks, her grieving husband has revealed exclusively to DailyMail.com.

But Ensa Cosby McLean suddenly took a turn for the worse and died on Friday in Massachusetts General Hospital before the transplant surgery could occur, businessman Martin McLean said.

Ensa, 44, had been married to McLean, 55, for four years. Though they had no children together, they had raised her daughter, he said.

'She had been battling kidney issues for the past couple of years, she had been on dialysis and she was very brave,' McLean said as he paused to speak to DailyMail.com while leaving Wednesday's brief funeral at Cosby's family compound in Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts.

'We didn't have a date (for the surgery), we had a time-frame,' he added. 'It was going to be pretty close, sometime in the future.'

Wearing a gray suit and an open-necked shirt, McLean remembered his wife as 'the warmest, sweetest person that you could ever want to meet.'

'She loved nature, she loved feeding the animals around here, there is great nature around here. She was an artist. She was also a chef.'

He asked well-wishers to send donations to the Boston hospital to help battle renal disease, in his wife's name. 'That would be terrific,' he said before taking off in his black Chevy Suburban.

It was not the first tragedy, either for the Cosby family, or for McLean. His son, Matthew, 21, was stabbed to death in December 2015 in Phoenix.

According to AZCentral,  a one-time friend stabbed Matthew more than 70 times.

Ensa was laid to rest next to her next to her beloved brother Ennis on the comic's estate. Ennis was just 27 years old when he was shot to death in a botched robbery in Los Angeles in 1997.

In a half-hour, private service, the fourth of Cosby's five children was buried in a plot of land known as 'Ennis Garden' hidden from the road behind a large wooden barn.

Only family members were at the outdoor service that took place on a crisp day with a watery sun peeking through the clouds and small patches of snow still lying on the ground.

A hearse carrying her casket left the Smith-Kelleher funeral home in picturesque Shelburne Falls at 1.30pm for the 15-minute drive to the Cosby compound.

It turned in a side gate to the 21-acre property and drove up to the burial area which workers had sealed off with mismatched blue and brown tarps. Earlier in the day a back hoe was spotted digging the grave.

Cosby, Camille — his wife of 54 years — and their remaining children, Erika, 52, Erinn, 51, and Evin, 41, all remained out of sight, on the compound.

The funeral came 21 years and 40 days after Ennis was buried — in a similarly small service — but the differences between the two occasions could not have been more stark.

Ennis died at the age of 27 when he was shot dead in a botched robbery in Los Angeles in January 1997.

After his murder, President Bill Clinton and vice-president Al Gore both called Cosby personally to offer their condolences and flowers by the truckload were delivered to his many homes.

California state officials and tabloid magazines offered hundreds of thousands of dollars in reward for the capture of Ennis' killer as his slaying captivated the nation.

More than 800 tipsters called police and the murderer was caught two months after Ennis' death.

For Ensa, just one tiny posy was delivered to the family compound. Perhaps nothing illustrates just how far Bill Cosby has fallen in the eyes of America than the reaction to the tragic deaths of his third and
