Six devastated couples have been forced to find a venue in under a month after a popular seaside hotel abruptly announced it was closing for renovations.  

The Portsea Hotel in Melbourne's idyllic Mornington Peninsula revealed it would be closing for a full renovation, shocking a number of engaged couples who had already secured the venue to host their receptions. 

Cindy D'Auria and her finance Anton Vogiatzis spent the last two years planning their big day which is set for May 5.

Now they have been forced to find a new venue a month before tying the knot, leaving them stressed and upset, Ms D'Auria told 9 News.
