Police say the mother of a six-year-old girl found dead in their Massachusetts home banned her nine-year-old son from calling 911 and used super glue to close a wound on his neck.
Shana Pedroso, 37, and the children's father Marvin Brito, 38, were charged after police found their daughter dead and their son severely injured at their Fitchburg home on Tuesday.
The horrifying details of the case emerged on Wednesday when both parents appeared emotionless in Fitchburg District Court charged with abusing the two children.

Police said they found the little girl, Sophia, unresponsive with 'extensive bruising', while her brother Julian had bruising and a neck wound when they responded to a 911 call at the home.
It is not clear who at the home eventually called 911.
The children were taken to UMass HealthAlliance Hospital where Sophia was pronounced dead. Her brother's injuries, while severe, are not believed to be life-threatening.
