Lifeguards discovered the body in the water near Padang Padang beach, in the island's south, on Monday evening and it has been taken to hospital.

The chief of the National Search and Rescue Agency, Ketut Gede Ardana, told the Daily Telegraph he understood Mr Haydon had been hit by a wave.

The body was found around 12 hours after Mr Haydon's surf board was found split in two pieces.
