Travellers from across the world have revealed Bali merchants are not the only ones  reportedly categorising shoppers on their haggling skills by handing out different coloured plastic bags.    

Kristian Troy said on Wednesday he uncovered the secret system on one of his first trips to Indonesia nearly 30 years ago.

Dozens of people have chimed in online, revealing they have also witnessed the colour coding system being used in Thailand, Vietnam and Mexico.

Many prided themselves on being regularly handed a black bag, which signifies an aggressive bargain hunter.
