A driver met a tragic end on Wednesday morning on a highway in Sherbrooke after he hit a deer that had just been struck by another vehicle.

The incident happened around 7:20 a.m. on Highway 410.

According to the Sûreté du Québec, a vehicle heading west hit the animal, which was thrown into the lanes heading in the other direction.

Another van that was heading east hit the deer and the driver — described only as a male — was killed.

There were no other injuries, police said.
