The campaign to build a life-sized model of an iconic Lancaster Bomber to honour WWII heroes has raised £10,000 towards the project.

The Bomber County Gateway Trust aims to build a full-sized, Lancaster Bomber sculpture on a patch of land next to the A46 on the border of Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.

The organisation aims to have the memorial ready by Armistice Day this November and needs around £100,000 to construct the massive work.

It will have a wingspan of 31m (101ft), reach a height of 30m (98ft) off the ground, with help from a mount that will have a 10-12m stand.
