Salim Mehajer's model girlfriend has hit out at online after they threatened to kill her and called her 'ugly'.

Melissa Tysoe took to Instagram to shame the - saying similar bullying behaviour had led to suicides.

The 28-year-old said while she could ignore the hate mail she received, she also wanted it to spark a conversation about online bullying.

'I could quite easily delete these messages but I wanted to use them to start a conversation because it breaks my heart to think what precedent are we setting for our children,' Ms Tysoe said. 

'Adults doing this are grown people, what are we teaching future generations?'

'Look at victims - Dolly Everett, Kodi Pearson or Libby Bell ... so many children out there, they're not just names, they're lives,' she said. 

'Lives that have been lost to suicide because of bullying.
