Thugs using money to fund extravagant holidays to Ibiza, Ayia Napa and Cyprus Met Police figures show a hike in moped muggings in May, June and start of July But robberies go quiet over the rest of July and August when criminals are partying it up abroad

Moped thugs are using their ill-gotten gains to fund extravagant summer holidays in Ibiza, it has been revealed.

Muggers who rob people of their watches and mobile phones are selling the items to pay for luxury trips to Mediterranean party islands.

The latest Met Police figures show a steady increase in moped robberies at the end of spring just before summer begins.
