Coles shoppers turn their fury to the supermarket over plastic bag ban ‘scam’

Shoppers at Coles have taken to social media to slam the supermarket for it's decision to ban single-use plastic bags as of July 1.

Coles shoppers have been forced to bring their own canvas bags or pay between $0.15-3.00 for a range of reusable bags introduced by the supermarket.

Furious customers have taken to social condemning the supermarket chain's decision - with some calling the the plastic bag ban as a 'marketing ploy' aimed to make shoppers fork out up to $3 extra on alternative bags sold in-store.

'It's just another way for the chains to make money,' one enraged customer said on Twitter.

'Why ban it? Almost everything you buy comes in some way packages in plastic,'
