Zlatko Sikorsky brutally beat his teenage girlfriend before she was stuffed inside a barrel, police will allege in court.
The 34-year-old, who has been charged with the murder of Larissa Beilby, 16, is set to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday.
Sikorsky's lawyer, Brendan Ryan, has declared his client is innocent and has claimed there was an unfortunate set of circumstances, The Courier-Mail reported.
'The evidence will no doubt support a death through misadventure,' Mr Ryan said.

Sikorsky was charged by police with murder and misconduct with a corpse on Sunday after a tense 28-hour siege but he is refusing to speak with officers,
He is instead demanding to speak with his lawyer following his arrest.
Sikorsky was cornered by heavily-armed police at a unit block in Alexandra Headland on Queensland's Sunshine Coast on Friday.
He gave himself up to police about 6.30pm on Saturday and on Sunday morning he was charged with the murder of the missing teenage girl.
Detectives believe there could have been a network of criminal associates who helped to hide the man.
The manhunt for Sikorsky was sparked after a corpse was found in a barrel in the back of a stolen utility truck.

Sikorsky allegedly sped away from the police in the ute and dumped it at a gated community.
He allegedly offered a woman $2,000 to let him inside her home before she saw a 'dead arm' hangung out of the vehicle.
Armed with weapons, Sikorksy eventually holed himself up at the apartment block and began making demands of police.
Police confirmed the body in the barrel was Larissa's after conducting scientific tests.
'Our thoughts are very much with Miss Beilby's family as they come to terms with and mourn her death,' Acting Detective Superintendent White said.
