Archie (played by KJ Apa) was last seen in Riverdale being escorted off the school premises by the police.
The second season ended on a tense cliffhanger, as it seemed Archie had been set up by Veronica Lodge’s (Camila Mendes) father, Hiram Lodge (Mark Consuelos).
However, a new teaser trailer has shown the Riverdale redhead with a prominent Serpent tattoo on his right arm.
Although the moment is only a quick shot, a view of the mark hints that Archie could be joining his best friend’s side.
Jughead (Cole Sprouse) was instated as the new King of the Serpents at the end of season two when his father FP Jones (Skeet Ulrich) stood down from the role.
Throughout the season, fans of The CW drama saw Jughead become embroiled in gang warfare as he took on rival gang, The Ghoulies.
The teen also revealed a hidden dark side when he removed a tattoo from Snake-Charmer Penny Peabody (Brit Morgan) in an act of revenge as she had tricked him into dealing drugs for her.
Southside Serpents took a hit in the last season as the teens of the gang had to transfer schools to Riverside High as their school was being taken over for Hiram’s business plans.
True to his Southside connections, Jughead fought for the Serpents to be heard within the Riverdale community.
Believing the treatment they were facing was unjust, Jughead eventually earned the respect of his fellow Serpent’s.
