The Walking Dead season nine will feature Rick Grimes’ (played by Andrew Lincoln) exit from the show.
Andrew announced this fact at San Diego Comic-Con, much to fans’ displeasure.
The British actor told the audience that he’s had a great time on the show and loves the fans.
That said, it turns out that Andrew will be coming back to the show next year, but it won’t be in the way that fans want.
Andrew revealed to Entertainment Weekly that he is “going back” to the Walking Dead “next year”.
"I'm going back to shadow a director, and my intention is to direct next year," he revealed.
The actor went on to reveal that he “can’t bear” being away from the series for too much time.
He added: ”That's how much I am invested in the show and the continuation of the story.”
One of the main reasons Andrew gave for leaving the show in the first place was so that he could see his family more.
"I have two young children, and I live in a different country, and they become less portable as they get older," he explained at Comic-Con.
