Bernadette (played by Clair Norris) has been struggling with her feelings for best friend Tiffany Butcher (Maisie Smith) on EastEnders, with the teen getting noticeably jealous of Tiffany’s bond with drug dealer Evie Steele (Sophia Capasso).
As the two had a heart-to-heart in last night’s episode, Bernadette finally succumbed to her feelings and realised she was in fact in love with Tiffany.
Not wanting to hide her feelings any longer, an emotional Bernadette took to the Queen Vic to tell her mum she was in love with a girl.
Although she was anxious about Karen’s (Lorraine Stanley) reaction, Bernadette need not have worried as her mother took her daughter in her arms on the BBC soap.
Well done Bernie!
Karen told a tearful Bernadette: “How could I ever hate you? You are who you are, my darling. I'm so proud of you."
For a brief moment, it seemed a drunk Karen would reveal her daughter’s admission to the rest of the pub, who were in the midst of New Year’s Eve celebrations.
However, Karen told the pub: “Say it loud and say it proud, people! Have you seen how gorgeous my beautiful girl is? I couldn't ask for a better daughter."
Viewers were in awe of Bernadette finally coming out to her mother and took to social media to voice their praise over the touching moment.
One viewer wrote on Twitter: “Oh bless her, I love Bernie so much."
Another added: “THAT COMING OUT WAS SO UNEXPECTED OMG,” shocked by Bernadette’s announcement.
