In the book called, “Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother: The Official Biography” by William Shawcross, the author reveals how Queen Elizabeth was "deeply shocked" when it emerged that Princess Diana had collaborated with a royal biographer for a tell-all book. The Queen Mother said she was “deeply shocked” Diana had collaborated with Andrew Morton on the book Diana: Her True Story, which caused a sensation when it was published in 1992.
Her relationship with the Princess of Wales was altogether more complex.
Initially the two enjoyed good relations. the Queen Mother took the young princess, whose own position as an outsider in the Royal Family mirrored hers, under her wing.
Queen Elizabeth, the Queen's Mother, revealed her thoughts about Prince Charles’ divorce in a series of previously unpublished interviews with Sir Eric Anderson, the former Provost of Eton College, which were made available to the biographer William Shawcross.
She told Mr Anderson, who spent a total of 20 hours interviewing her: "It is always a mistake to talk about your marriage."
