The American singer fell ill on stage but still continued his performance and signed autographs for fans before being rushed to hospital where he was diagnosed with a stroke. Jimmy Osmond, 55, who was starring as Captain Hook in Peter Pan at the Birmingham Hippodrome has since pulled out of the show. A source close to Jimmy told the MailOnline the star is now feeling “comfortable". The original boyband return Jimmy Osmond: Singer, 55, suffers stroke during Birmingham panto p A spokesman for Jimmy told ITV: “On the evening of Thursday December 27th after pushing through the evening’s performance of Peter Pan at Birmingham Hippodrome, Jimmy Osmond was driven straight to hospital and diagnosed with a stroke. “He is grateful for all the well wishes and will be taking time out in the new year.” At the time of the incident, the Birmingham Hippodrome confirmed via their Twitter account Jimmy would not be appearing in Monday’s New Years Eve performance. "Jimmy loved being a part of the Hippodrome's well-renowned panto and his portrayal of Captain Hook was both dastardly and heart-warming. "He won the adoration not just of our audiences, but also of all our staff – we all send Jimmy and his family very best wishes for a speedy recovery." Darren Day will be replacing Jimmy in the role, it's been revealed. Last month, Jimmy discussed his role as Captain Hook and admitted he enjoyed playing villains. Speaking to the Shropshire Star he said: “It feels like I’m home. I’ve been here on various productions but this is my most exciting.
