The Palace uploaded a video onto Twitter earlier this week, with the caption: "As we say goodbye to 2018 here’s a look at some of the most memorable moments of the year from The Queen’s engagements. Happy New Year." A picture of Meghan Markle and the Queen showed the Duchess of Sussex smiling at Her Majesty during their first joint public outing in Runcorn, Cheshire, back in June. The image in Her Majesty’s memorable moments of 2018 has sparked speculation the Duchess of Sussex is favoured by the Monarch to the Duchess of Cambridge.
Although the future Queen did feature in the video in Meghan’s official wedding portrait, she was nowhere to be seen in the rest of the footage.
In the photo with Queen Elizabeth, Meghan Markle looked stunning in a neutral fitted belted pencil dress, featuring an unusual cape shoulder detail.
Meanwhile, the monarch looked lovely in a green coat by Stewart Parvin and matching hat by Rachel Trevor Morgan.
The Queen even gifted Meghan a spectacular pair of diamond and pearl earrings for the occasion.
