Vanessa (played by Michelle Hardwick) is attacked when she confronts someone who she spots dousing the Woolpack in petrol.
But things soon turn violent on ITV soap Emmerdale and she ends up stabbed by the assailant as he inadvertently drives away with her son when he steals her car.
Although details of the attacker’s identity is being kept under wraps, Vanessa star Michelle has let slip some key clues.
“We’ve got to think is it someone from her past, is it a connection to Charity or the Dingles? We’ll have to wait and see,” the actress told Metro.
“The audience has met them before so that’s intriguing isn’t it!? And it’s a he!”
Meanwhile, fans have been speculating about who it could be.
Viewers of the soap have taken to Twitter to share their theories.
