Matthew, 40, sat down with Lorraine Kelly, 59, this morning to discuss his involvement with BBC dance show, The Greatest Dancer, which will see the contestants battle it out to win £50,000.
As well as a cash prize, the winner will also land themselves a guest spot on Strictly Come Dancing when the show returns later this year.
However, although this is the first time Matthew has worked with Strictly professional Oti Mabuse, 28, he has crossed paths with Cheryl, 35, before.
The former Glee star revealed he and the Girls Aloud singer once worked together on a Hollywood blockbuster.
We only crossed paths
Matthew told Lorraine: “I knew Cheryl, we did a movie together called What To Expect When You’re Expecting.”
Explaining Cheryl’s role on the film and how the two came to meet, Matthew continued: “Cheryl was a judge,” referring to the fictional TV show Celebrity Dance Factor, which is included in the film.
However, the pair’s meeting was only brief, as the actor explained: “We only crossed paths and said hello.”
Speaking of his other fellow mentor Oti, Matthew praised her inclusion on the show, stating: “I never knew her but I think she’s the break out star of this show.”
The former Glee star also opened about the show itself, stating his intrigue for signing up was the original format.
“The great thing about this show is its all about love. There’s no negativity about this show,” he admitted.
