Manuel Cortes, General Secretary of the Transport Salaried Staffs' Association, claimed it is “crystal clear” of the Foreign Secretary’s intentions. Jeremy Hunt has praised the transformation in Singapore and pointed to aspects of their economic model for Britain post-Brexit. Speaking on BBC’s Today programme, Mr Cortes claimed the Foreign Secretary was simply trying to put himself “in pole position to be the next Tory leader”.
He said: “Let’s be crystal clear. What Jeremy Hunt is doing today, he is flying a kite to try and put himself in pole position to be the next Tory leader.
“This has absolutely nothing to do about the virtues of Singapore.”
He added: “People have been talking about Norway, Norway-plus…about having a close relationship with Europe.
“The reality is the Tories are divided from top to bottom.
