Idris, 46, stars in the leading role as DCI John Luther in the detective drama and is known for winning over viewers with his stellar performances.
However, viewers were left in a cast last night as the detective seemed to slip up when it came to getting himself dressed.
The moment came after the BBC drama’s dramatic opening scenes which saw Luther kidnapped and beat up by gangster George Cornelius (played by Patrick Malahide) and his hench men.
Luther then spoke about his ordeal with college DSU Martin Schnek (Dermot Crowley) the morning after while getting himself changed.

However, whilst in the midst of their discussion, viewers noticed a continuity error when Luther was tying his tie.
In one moment, Luther can be seen crossing his tie, however after a brief second away from the screen, the tie is undone again with Idris starting the process all over again.
Viewers quickly took to social media to voice their confusion and rage at the continuity error minutes into the show.
One viewer wrote on Twitter: “Anyone spot the continuity/editing error already? Go back to Luther doing up his tie…” telling other viewers to spot the mistake.
Another added: “He came down stairs and started tying his tie - cut away - cut back - tie untied and hanging round his neck, started tying tie again.”
