The programme will see Tom helping eight families to adopt healthier lifestyles with his six-step plan. But how did Tom overhaul his diet himself? And just how did he drop 12 stone?

Michelin-starred chef Tom cut out alcohol, carbs, and refined sugar to kickstart his diet, after snacking and grazing during his career led him to pile on the pounds.

He told GQ: “As a chef, I was grazing and snacking throughout service. Or I’d be eating cheese on toast and packets of crisps because they were quick and there and ready to go. 

“And I was a big one to skip breakfast. I didn’t have any.”

But he is now able to find balance in his diet, adding: “There is nothing wrong with a flapjack in the afternoon when you get that 4pm lull if everything else is in place. 

“Look at Anthony Joshua. He shows himself in the gym and then eating a burger in a fast food joint, but the point is he’s showing balance – the burger is a treat and he’s done an epic workout and kids are getting that now. They understand it.”
