Greggs’ vegan sausage roll has been created to mirror some of their best seller’s classic features, including 96 layers of light and crisp puff pastry.
However, the filling is instead made with a bespoke Quorn filling.
The pastry is even vegan-friendly too, with a Greggs spokesperson telling Express.co.uk: "We have removed the milk-based glaze, used to help make the pastry of our original sausage roll golden once baked.
"We made a conscious decision to leave the Vegan Sausage Roll without a glaze, making the lattice design more prominent and allowing a clearer difference between the two sausage rolls."
The vegan sausage roll will hit shelves tomorrow (Thursday 3rd January) in selected stores across the nation.
Greggs’ decision to launch the vegan treat comes after a high customer demand
