‘Disloyal’ Chris Tarrant SNUBBED new Jeremy Clarkson ...

The 72-year-old radio broadcaster led the hugely-popular quiz show in the late 90s, but after 16 series the programme was cancelled to coincide with Chris stepping down in 2013.

Today the television personality appeared on ITV programme This Morning to speak about his new year, and revealed he was watching a rival channel.

The presenter admitted: “I watched Luther actually. I'm terribly sorry."

Laughing, Chris joked he felt “disloyal”, but that didn’t stop him from saying he preferred to watch the high-octane BBC drama instead.

The host continued: “I did it [Who Wants To Be A Millionaire] for 15 years, about 700 shows.

"I loved it - I had a fantastic time but I don't want to do any more, so good luck. It’s a great show.”

Chris recently shared he would "politely turned down" an offer by the network to return to the gameshow, which is now run by former Top Gear star Jeremy instead.

His spokesperson previously said: "Chris thought the programme had run its course.
