Idris Elba teases MAJOR break for #Luther after series ends

Idris, 46, has starred in the lead role as DCI John Luther since the series began back in 2010, with the detective solving numerous crimes.

Season five will see Luther thrown back into the thick of the action as a mysterious killer begins a reign of terror, seemingly choosing his victims at random.

The season will consist of four gripping episodes, played out on the BBC over four consecutive nights beginning tomorrow evening.

However, whatever the conclusion, it seems the ending could led to the series making it to the silver-screen sometime in the future.

This season has the film in its sights

Idris Elba

Speaking about the upcoming season to press at the series launch, Idris said: “This season has the film very much in its sights.

“If there is a film, then it will be somehow connected to this season,“ the actor revealed, having said the big-screen adaptation had been given the green light earlier this month.

The idea of a feature-length film isn’t new to the series, as Idris had stated back in 2011 that he would be on board to bring the show to the big screen.

However, fans will have to wait and see if the project does come to fruition after the series comes to an end on Friday night.

Idris also explained what viewers can look forward to: “There are some really incredible moments and I think there will definitely be things we haven't seen in Luther before.
