Eating three bananas a WEEK could lower deadly high blood pressure risk

High blood pressure is a deadly condition that affects more than a quarter of all adults in the UK.

The condition, which is also known as hypertension, puts extra stress on blood vessels and vital organs.

You could lower your chances of developing high blood pressure symptoms by making just a few changes to your daily diet.

One of the best ways to avoid hypertension is to eat bananas, it’s been claimed.

Bananas are rich in potassium, which helps to balance out the negative effects of sodium, said charity Blood Pressure UK.

Potassium is a key mineral that the body needs to function properly, while sodium reduces the ability of the kidneys to remove water, and subsequently raises blood pressure.

Everyone should aim to eat three to four bananas every week, added dietitian Juliette Kellow and nutritionist Dr Sarah Brewer.

“Whether you like your bananas slightly green or freckly, they all come with triple levels of mood-boosting powers,” they said, in their book ‘Eat Better Live Longer - Understand What Your Body Needs To Stay Healthy’.
