You season two was first announced in July 2018 with the second series of the show expected to air on Lifetime. Netflix later announced that You season two would actually air on their streaming service, leaving You fans wondering why the series decided to move to Netflix for the second series. You co-showrunner Greg Berlanti has said the Penn Badgley drama had to move to Netflix after Lifetime decided “season two didn’t work for their business model”.
According to Berlanti, You season two will air on Netflix because Lifetime backed out while the You team were talking to Netflix about the international rights of the series.
While You aired on Lifetime in the US, Netflix aired in the show outside of America.
When asked why You was moving to Netflix, Berlanti said: “Lifetime were fantastic partners for season one and we’re really grateful that they made the show with us.
“I understand season two didn’t work for their business model.
