Mrs May is battling to save her Brexit deal and hang onto power after Labour leader Jeremy Cobryn launched a motion of no confidence in the Government last night. MPs voted down the Prime Minister’s deal by 432 to 202, an unprecedented majority of 230. And with the UK set to leave the European Union on March 29, the defeat has fuelled fears that Britain could crash out of the bloc without a deal in place.
Following the vote, German carmakers warned of dire outcomes for the motor industry if the UK does not strike a deal with the EU, including the threat of job losses.
German auto industry association VDA said: “The consequences of a 'no deal' would be fatal.
"Without an orderly and practical solution for business, jobs in the car industry, particularly on the British side, are on the line."
And BMW Group insisted clarity is needed over Brexit.
