An eBay user is tempting coin collectors to expand their Beatrix Potter collection by listing a Tale of Peter Rabbit 50p coin. Listed for an eye-watering £500, the seller’s profile name is superjock81 and they’re based in Norwich. They have titled the rare coin as: “50P Fifty Pence ‘RARE’ The Tale of Peter Rabbit coin Collectable 2017.” The Peter Rabbit coin currently has 35 watchers at the time of writing, with many eBay users keen to see if anyone will purchase the coin for the astounding asking price.

The Tale of Peter Rabbit coin was issued by the Royal Mint in 2017 with a mintage of 19,300,00 – giving it a scarcity index of ‘common'

However, the seller – who has 100 per cent positive feedback – is accepting offers on the 50p coin as well as giving customers the ‘buy it now’ option.

The description of the coin reads: “Very 'rare' 2017 Peter Rabbit collectable coin. Postage will be included in the price. Item will be sent 1st class recorded.”

While the coins in the Beatrix Potter collection are known to be a rare find, are they really worth as much as £500?
