Speaking in the House of Commons during the confidence vote debate, Michael Gove hit out at Jeremy Corbyn after Theresa May’s plan was defeated by a majority of 230.

Gove snapped: “No way can this country ever allow that man to be our Prime Minister,” in reference to Corbyn.

However, the BBC subtitles read: “No way can this country ever allow Batman to be our Prime Minister.”

News watchers instantly took to social media following the subtitling error.

One viewer tweeted: “Watching the no confidence debate with BBC subtitles. Gove said ‘We should never put that man (Corbyn) in charge of this country’. Subtitles: ‘We should never put Batman in charge of this country’… #NoConfidenceVote.”

“Gove saying ‘we can never let that man become our Prime Minister’ and the BBC subtitles heard it as ‘we can never let Batman become our prime minister’. Agree, but at this point I think anything is possible,” posted another.

A third laughed: “A subtitle error or an actual proposal from Gove? #michaelgove #batman.”

“Well, Gove is just wrong. The PM should always be herself. Unless she can be Batman. Then the PM should be Batman,” teased another.
