Despite no snow arriving for most of the country temperatures will be incredibly cold to start Friday with the northernmost parts of Scotland facing temperatures of up to -10C. With sub-zero temperatures blanketing most of the nation, the Met Office has issued a snow and ice warning to start Friday morning. As we approach Friday afternoon, the temperatures will rise thanks to bright sunshine to bring most areas across the UK to just above freezing.
Met Office metrologist Steven Keates said: “A very a cold start to Friday morning but that will be compensated by some bright sunshine across eastern areas.
“The sunshine will hang longest across eastern England and the far north of Scotland.
“Further to the west we have some outbreaks of rain and some hill snow thrown in.”
