However, Emmerdale fans aren’t certain Joe is really dead after they spotted his hand twitching.
Cain has finally confessed to his daughter Debbie (Charley Webb) about his involvement in Joe’s disappearance and she’s furious.
Now, soap star Jeff has spoken out on rumours Joe could return.
He told This Morning hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford: “As far as Cain is concerned Joe is dead.
“As far as Debbie is concerned he is dead.”
He continued: “I killed him, for the time there’s blood on my hands.”
