Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) Detective Inspector Geoff Boyce confirmed a murder investigation has been launched. He said: “Police were called to the incident at a house on the Lower Dromore Road at 7:30pm this evening January 18. A female has also sustained serious injuries during the incident and has been taken to hospital.” The incident took place in Lower Dromore Road, Warrenpoint and the women injured was taken to Daisy Hill Hospital. South Down Assembly member Sinead Ennis appealed for information. The Sinn Fein representative said: “The community of Warrenpoint are shocked and stunned by this news. “Our first thoughts are with the family of the victim. “The PSNI have the area sealed off and I would appeal to anyone with information to bring it forward to assist the investigation.” It is believed that the shooting happened inside a house near a golf club.
