Britain’s Got Talent presenter Ant McPartlin returns for the latest series of the reality talent programme after taking a year off after he was convicted of drink driving last year.
In the interview, Ant discussed his health and how much he’s changed as well as being eager to get back to his work alongside his best friend and co-host of 25 years Declan Donnelly.
But he also mentioned his ex-wife Lisa Armstrong with The Sun newspaper reporter Dan Wootton, claiming they “don’t speak, we haven’t for a while," and Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan was unimpressed.
Discussing it with his co-host Susanna Reid and entertainment reporter Richard Armstrong, Piers claimed Ant’s comments were “slightly inflammatory” on the ITV programme.
“Can I ask one thing about his interview, which struck me, would you have given that interview?” Piers asked slowly, leaving Richard confused.
“So when you’re asking the question you’re really giving your answer aren’t you,” Susanna helpfully clarified.
“I’m musing,” the 53-year-old journalist continued. “Musing whether it’s a good idea to… talking the way that he did.
“We know about all his divorce issues and so on, which are unresolved, strikes me as slightly inflammatory this interview.”
Susanna, 48, disagreed with her co-host, insisting: “Well he’s come back hasn’t he, he wants to announce the fact he’s back, prove that he’s strong and happy.
“And that’s why he’s done the interview with Dan,” Susanna clarified.
