Loose Women star Jane Moore, 56, revealed Barbara’s spouse of 25 years Scott Mitchell, 56, had approached her to ghost-write Barbara’s autobiography alongside her, but he soon changed his mind after she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2014. Revealing all on Saturday Morning with James Martin, she explained: “I’ve known Barbara for 30 years, so I’ve known Scott for the whole time they’ve been together… 20 something years. “I ghost-wrote Sharon Osbourne’s autobiography Unbreakable and Scott knew that and he approached me about possibly ghost writing Barbara’s [autobiography] because she’s had such an amazing career. “So we started the conversation and we had a couple of chats about it and the third time we met up him and I, he looked very shell-shocked and he said ‘I have to tell you something and I have to swear you to secrecy’ and they had been given the diagnosis that she had Alzheimer’s.

“So therefore it became that we couldn’t really do the book because he thought that going back over her life would be too upsetting and there could possibly be things she couldn’t remember.
