Theresa May is currently informing Parliament on what she has achieved by talking to other party leaders in Westminster after her deal was rejected by 432 votes to 202 last week. Yesterday, Mrs May blamed Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn’s refusal to engage in cross-party talks as she told cabinet ministers she would instead attempt to renegotiate a new compromise with Brussels. However, EU leaders have responded with scepticism over the Prime Minister’s strategy as they fear a no-deal Brexit could be closer than ever.

Britain is still scheduled to leave the EU on March 29 and, if arrangements are not in place, experts have warned that the UK’s failure to secure a deal could lead to catastrophic consequences including travel chaos and food shortages.

However, if the UK left with no-deal, Britain would no longer be part of the EU’s regulatory regime – which, according to former Ukip MP Douglas Carswell, hugely damaged business across the country.
