It is a low carb plan that focuses on restricting calories and detoxifying. The theory is that the liver will burn fat efficiently after a detoxifying period. There are three phases to the diet. Phase one calls for the dieter to drink eight glasses of a cranberry juice and water mixture per day to reduce water retention, while eating no wheat or dairy and only eating 1,100 to 1,200 calories. This is the crash diet phase of the diet, and the two subsequent phases enable dieters to carry on with the plan.
