The Met Office has even warned of the possibility of “thundersnow” which is the formation of thunderstorms in wintry conditions. The northern and western parts of the UK will be most likely to see thunder and lightning and heavy snow showers. Sleet and snow will blanket the country which will maintain icy conditions with most areas hovering around freezing.

Met Office meteorologist Alex Deakin said: “The road surfaces will all be below freezing on Tuesday morning, hence why it could be ice for Tuesday mornings commute.
