Dermot O’Leary, 45, will be hosting the National Televison Awards  for the 10th year in a row but ahead of his appearance, the X Factor star has opened up about a major blunder on the show. Speaking to OK! Magazine, Dermot revealed an on-air slip up which caused him to have to be pulled up by contestant Katie Waissel, 32. He told the publication: “I haven’t dropped the F bomb yet. “There was a terrible moment when Katie Waissel was on the show. She was in the sing-off and I said: ‘Good luck hun.’

“But when it was replayed on YouTube it sounded like I said: ‘Good luck…’ and then the worst swear word you can think of, to the point where she came in and asked for an apology.”

However, the presenter admitted he didn’t have to apologise in the end because he didn’t actually use any expletive language.

Dermot continued: “My producer said: ‘He can’t apologise for something he didn’t say!’”

Katie Waissel appeared on X Factor as a contestant in 2010.

Meanwhile, television’s famous faces will be appearing at the award ceremony which is being held tonight.
