A legacy of wintry showers, snow, sleet and sub-zero temperatures has left ice on untreated surfaces across the UK.
Those travelling today have been warned disruptions on roads and trains are likely due to icy stretches.
For much of the UK this morning the heat value is below freezing, with figures dropping as low as minus four degrees Celsius in the north.
Despite it being bitterly cold, most areas will be dry, with some sunshine first thing this morning.

However, there are going to be more wintry showers in the far south-east, where a couple of centimetres of snow could fall.
Forecasters are urging Britons to be cautious when travelling on Wednesday, as widespread ice and freezing mist patches are prominent.
Meteorologist Carol Kirkwood told BBC Breakfast viewers today: “This morning it is a cold start to the day, it is also an icy one.
“Widespread risk of ice on untreated surfaces after yesterday’s snow and wet weather, so if you’re travelling do bare that in mind it could leave to some disruptions.”
