Kate Middleton, 37, and Prince William, 36, are now parents-of-three, after welcoming their youngest child, Prince Louis, back in April last year. The youngster, as well as his siblings, Princess Charlotte, three, and Prince George, five, have so far lived a life that’s relatively out of the limelight. As they grow older, their royal duties may mean this could change, but for now, the trio enjoy a fairly private upbringing. Recently, the Duchess of Cambridge unveiled some rare insight into her family life.

Attending a royal engagement yesterday, Kate discussed how bringing up youngsters can be “a struggle”.

It came as she launched the family charity helpline FamilyLine, at the offices of Family Action in London.

During the visit, the mother-of-three addressed the support she had had herself - such as from her family and a nanny.

However, she went on to discuss how every parent can encounter challenges when bringing up little ones.

Speaking to volunteers at the event, she said: “Everybody experiences the same struggle. It’s so hard.

“You get a lot of support with the baby as a mother particularly in the early days but after the age of one it falls away.”

The royal, who is working to improve early years support for children and their parents, went on to consider what support systems are available.

And, while she discussed how she thought there isn’t currently much out there for new mothers and fathers, Kate suggested that she and the Duke of Cambridge may have sought advice from books in the past.

“After that there isn’t a huge amount - lots of books to read,” she added.

Prince William and Kate Middleton’s own recent experience of raising their three children could come in use to fellow royals Prince Harry, 34, and Meghan Markle, 37, in the near future.

The couple may be hoping for words of advice from their in-laws, as they are set to welcome their first child together in spring.
