The news has been confirmed by its US network The CW.
The programme has already enjoyed three series, with the third still underway as chaos reigns in Riverdale for Archie Andrews (KJ Apa) and company.
Riverdale is available on Netflix for UK viewers and yesterday saw the 11th episode in the current series air.
But it does remain to be seen whether the fourth run will be available on Netflix too.
The programme spawned a spin-off series, the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina which was released last October.
Meanwhile, it has been revealed there will also be another spin-off about another Archie Comics character, Katy Keene.
Viewers have seen the third season go to some extreme places as it began to explore some interesting topics including mystery seizures and cults.
But as season three is yet to air a finale, it isn’t known where the fourth series will go.
On top of that, no cast member’s return can be guaranteed as their fates from the third instalment are still unconfirmed.
So, viewers will just have to wait and see.
