The carrier is urging passengers to check their flight status ahead of travel to the airport. The cancellations are only affecting BA short-haul flights - no other airlines are understood to have held flights. “Due to the adverse weather conditions predicted, we have been forced to cancel and merge a number of short-haul flights today to ensure that we protect the rest of our schedule,” a British Airways spokesperson told Express.co.uk. UK SNOW CHAOS: Airport chaos and road turmoil as temperatures PLUMMET Flights: Heathrow Airport British Airways flights CANCELLED due to snow - travel news latest “We recognise the uncertainty that the bad weather may be causing customers, and have offered those due to travel on short-haul flights to/from Heathrow the opportunity to postpone their journey.” BA has introduced a travel waiver so passengers can rebook their flight over the coming week. “If you are due to travel on a short-haul service on Friday 1 February, regardless of whether your flight is currently showing as operating or not, you can rebook to travel up to and including Thursday 7 February,” said the BA website. “We are sorry for the potential disruption to your travel plans and are doing all we can to minimise the effect the poor weather may have on our flights.” It’s advisable to keep checking the latest flight information as “the situation could change at short notice,” the airline said. If your flight has been cancelled BA advises against travelling to the airport. All British Airways flights from Heathrow to Paris have been cancelled this morning. The next scheduled flight is due to depart at 12.15pm. Flights to Berlin have been severely disrupted with two flights this morning cancelled and one delayed. Early morning flights to Rome have been cancelled, with the first flights due to depart at 10.50am. Two morning flights to Nice have been called off as has one morning flight to Bilbao. Only one flight to Barcelona has been cancelled and only one to Edinburgh. A BA spokesperson told Express.co.uk: “Safety is always our priority, and we're working hard to keep our operation moving. We're sorry that some of our services are being delayed by the weather conditions. London City Airport is also experiencing cancelled and delayed flights, with BA, KLM and SWISS disrupted. The latest weather charts show in the next 72 hours the country will be struck with a sustained drumming of snowfall. Only Northern Ireland will be saved from the wintery conditions.
