British Airways have cancelled more than 90 Heathrow flights due to the freezing weather and snow blasting the UK. The airline made the decision to cancel flights after a snowstorm struck - and disappointed fliers discovered this morning the cancellations had continued into today. The carrier is urging passengers to check their flight status ahead of travel to the airport. The cancellations are only affecting BA short-haul flights - no other airlines are understood to have held flights from Heathrow.

“Due to the adverse weather conditions predicted, we have been forced to cancel and merge a number of short-haul flights today to ensure that we protect the rest of our schedule,” a British Airways spokesperson told Express.co.uk.
“We recognise the uncertainty that the bad weather may be causing customers, and have offered those due to travel on short-haul flights to/from Heathrow the opportunity to postpone their journey.”
BA has introduced a travel waiver so passengers can rebook their flight over the coming week.
“If you are due to travel on a short-haul service on Friday 1 February, regardless of whether your flight is currently showing as operating or not, you can rebook to travel up to and including Thursday 7 February,” said the BA website.
“We are sorry for the potential disruption to your travel plans and are doing all we can to minimise the effect the poor weather may have on our flights.”
It’s advisable to keep checking the latest flight information as “the situation could change at short notice,” the airline said. If your flight has been cancelled BA advises against travelling to the airport.
