The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for the inclement conditions. The warnings advise “icy stretches will be the main hazard on Sunday morning”. They mean there is an increased likelihood of accidents and injuries due to slippery surfaces.
The warnings cover Central, Tayside & Fife, east of England, Grampian Highlands & Eilean Siar, London & south east England, north-east England, north-west England, south west Scotland, Lothian Borders, south-west England and Strathclyde.
They come after adverse weather conditions caused widespread travel disruption towards the end of the working week and into the start of the weekend.
Commenting on the conditions, Met Office meteorologist Ellie Creed said: “There will be plenty of clear spells and unsurprisingly temperatures will take a tumble.”
