Much of England will remain warmer however, with thick cloud providing insulation. Early morning will likely also see some fog in eastern England and Scotland, though this should clear away as the day goes on. Turning to Tuesday night, the rain and cloud is forecasted to extend across most of the country, with the cloud functioning as a blanket to keep the air below mild.
In the early afternoon, Met Office meteorologist Alex Deakin predicts: “Rain into Northern Ireland, so turning damp here, a drizzly afternoon.
“Some of drizzly rain extending into southwest Scotland, southwestern parts of Wales and maybe even the midlands as well as southern England.”
The day will start with a frost for parts of the country, especially in Scotland, with some fog patches also around.
