This is even if Prime Minister Theresa May gets her Brexit deal through the House of Commons. And the period would see Britain remain in the EU on the same terms during the eight-week period, according to The Daily Telegraph. It comes after Commons leader Andrea Leadsom said the EU could be prepared to grant the UK a “couple of extra weeks” beyond the deadline to finalise preparations for Brexit. Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt, meanwhile, said “extra time” could be needed if negotiations with the bloc drag on. But Theresa May has rebuffed claims telling Cabinet on Tueaay we “have to leave” on March 29. The Tory leader is due to travel to Brussels on Thursday for her first face-to-face talks with European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker and European Council president Donald Tusk since the Withdrawal Agreement they reached last November was rejected by the House of Commons. She will seek to secure changes which can persuade MPs to support her deal in a series of votes expected on February 14.
