“A good deal of misty low cloud and fog across the south and the south east,” Lucy told viewers.

“Here, some poor visibility, outbreaks of rain on and off through the course of tomorrow.

“Quite soggy but very mild here, almost muggy,” she said, sounding surprised. “Given the time of year, quite unusually so.”

ITV weather forecaster Lucy also predicted cloud cover and outbreaks of rain throughout Northern Ireland and Scotland today, adding: “Here, chilly enough for some sleety snow across the highest hilltops.”

She said the temperature would be “nowhere near as cold as it has been”, particularly in the south of England.
