During an interview with LBC, Labour MP John McDonnell rebuked a caller's claim that there was a smear campaign against the Labour Party regarding anti-semitism. The caller introduced as Oliver said that for the last two years the Labour party had suffered from a smear campaign. He said: “Not confronting it head-on and not calling it out for what it is, is strategically damaging in the long term.

Mr McDonnell replied: “It isn’t a smear campaign Oliver, I’ve seen the evidence.
“I’ve seen the stuff on social media, in particular, and some of it is horrendous.
“I’ve seen the threats that have been made against some of our Jewish members and MPs.
